SMS Banking: Codes to Buy Airtime, Check Balance, Send Money from your Bank Account

Internet Banking and SMS Banking is fasting revolutionalising the banking system in Nigeria. Bank Customers can now perform via tasks such as purchasing Airtime, checking account balance, transfering funds and even opening bank account right from your mobile, tablets or PC.

If you thought this is cool, that's not all, customer using SMS Banking can also perform these same functions without using internet.

How to check GT Bank Account Balance and Transfer Money via SMS Short Code

GT Bank customers can open an account, check account balance, transfer funds using the *737# USSD Code. By using this code, customer don't require a GTB token device for money transfer, but will need to enter the last four digits of your MasterCard to authenticate the transaction. Also customers should note that they are can only perform these functions using the mobile number that is registered to their GTB account.

How to transfer Money from GTB Account using Short Code

To transfer to a GTBank account, dial *737*1*Amount*NUBAN Account No# for example .*737*1*1000*1234567890# Remember It should be from your number that is registered with the Bank.

Code to Transfer from GT Bank to another Bank

Step 1: Type *737*2*Amount* NUBAN Account No# into your mobile phone and dial mobile number. Remember It should be from your number that is registered with the Bank.

Step 2: Choose the receipents bank account.

Step 3:  Input the four digits that ends your GTBank MasterCard to authenticate the transaction.

Now wait for the transaction to be concluded. Once the transfer is successful, you'll be notified of a debit from GTBank.

You can also transfer funds using GTBank Mobile Banking App or by logging into their website using your identification number and password. Then selecting 'Transfer Funds'

How to Check GTB Account Balance

GTB  Customers can also check account balance via SMS in the following format; Bal (space) NUBAN Number. Then send it to this number: 08100550000 and wait for the reply.

Note that NUBAN is your 10 digit account number and you may charged N4 or more for the text message by your network provider

Code to Check Union Account Balance

To check your Union bank account balance simply text 'Bal'' to

20123. Remember It should be from your number that is registered with the Bank.

Code to Buy Airtime, Pay Bills, and Transfer Money on First Bank

First Bank Nigeria Customer can simply use *894# to perform various SMS banking functions such as Paying PHCN and DSTV utility bills, Buy Airtime, Send money and more via their mobile phone.

Code to Recharge your Phone From your Ecobank Account

Ecobank Customers can buy airtime straight from their accounts via Ecobank Quick Recharge, this service allows customer purchase MTN, Glo, Airtel or Etisalat airtime credit from their Ecobank current or Saving account using the mobile number registered to their account.

To buy airtime from your Ecobank account dial this code (*326*Amount#) e.g. *326*1*200#

To recharge your phone using your e-wallet account, use this code: *326*1*amount#

Code to Check Access Bank Account Balance from your Mobile Phone.

Access bank customer can now checking their bank account balance with easy without internet or standing in long queues at banking halls. To check your access bank balance on mobile send 'Bal (space) NUBAN number' to 08160000612 and wait. E.g send Bal 0224784613 to 08160000612. Remember It should be from your number that is registered with the Bank.

Code to Buy Airtime From your UBA Account

You can now buy MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat Airtime directly from your UBA account by simply dialing the UBA ( *919*Amount# ) recharge code. Remember It should be from your number that is registered with the Bank.

You can also buy airtime for friends and Family by dailing *919*ThePerson'sMobileNumber*Amount#.

Zenith Bank Mobile Banking(EazyBanking) 

Good news!, with Zenith bank Eazy Banking you can perform these functions from your mobile phone.

To Open a Zenith Bank Account from your mobile phone simply dial *966*0#, follow the instructions displayed. The process will then auto-generate an account number for you. However the customer will still have to visit the nearest zenith bank branch to activate the account for transactions.

To perform transactions such as Check Zenith Bank Account Balance, Buy Airtime(Credit) and Transfer Money.Customers are required to first perform a One-Time Registration by Dialing *966*00#.

After this, Zenith Bank Customers can now dial *966*00# to check thieraccount balance.

To recharge your phone, dial this USSD Code in this format*966*Amount*Number# EG*966*200*08021234567# to buy N200airtime.

To send money to someone using your mobile phone simply dial *966*Amount to Transfer*Beneficiary Account Number# E.g. *966*5000*1234567890#to transfer N5,000 from your account to account 1234567890.

However, zenith bank customers should note that transactions performed using the *966#USSD code can only be done using the mobile number registered to that account. A 4-digit PIN will also be used to verify and authenticate all transactions.
