Etisalat 4G LTE is now live and from the speed test screenshot circulating the internet, its fiar to say that the speed is amazing. Etisalat Nigeria has been testing the service for a while now, a friend confirmed that he has been using LTE network weeks before it was officially announced and the speed was okay.
For now, the LTE network coverage has been confirmed in most area in Lagos, so Abuja, Port Harcourt and other major cities should be next.
The major advantage etisalat subscribers have over other networks(MTN, GLO) is there don't need to do a SIM swap or SIM upgrade to use 4G, Etisalat sims are automatically configured as USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module). So all you need to do is select 4G LTE as your preffered network and you're good to go!
Another advantage of using Etisalat for 4G browsing is that most mobile phones in the Nigerian market will work with Etisalat 4G because their LTE band frequency is supported on these smartphone.
Below the supported band frequencies of GSM networks in Nigeria;
1. NTEL supports band 3(1800) and 8(900)Mhz
2. MTN 4G supports band 7(2600MHz) and 20 (800MHz)
3. Glo 4G supports band 28 (700MHz)
4. Etisalat 4G supports LTE band 3 (1800)MHz
Therefore to use 4G LTE Network, you'll need to buy a phone that supports the LTE Bands listed above.
