New reports indicate that the Jos, Plateau State home of Super Eagles player, Onazi Ogenyi, was attacked by armed men who beat up his father during the robbery.
According to Punch, four men stormed the Jos home yesterday and made away with valuables including a Toyota Highlander and cash. Though no lives were lost during the ordeal, the armed men reportedly assaulted the father of the footballer.
Confirming the incident, Onazi Ogenyi said the men had claimed they came from a courier company and had a letter for his father. He said:
“Those robbers came, pretending they were there to deliver a letter to my dad at about 1.40pm on Monday. But as soon as he collected their fake letter and asked where it was coming from they swooped on him, tied his hands, beat him up, inflicting machete cuts on him in the process.”They told him this is the first in a series of attacks that they will launch on our house and that I( Onazi) will be their target the next time.“Those guys took their time to take some valuable materials including car and some cash but I am thankful to God they didn’t do more than that.”
The Turkey-based striker added that his family members have reported the incident to the police, while his father has been discharged from the hospital where he was treated for the injuries he sustained.
