Wouldn’t it be interesting if all body shamers were charged with criminal offences?
Two days ago, Playboy model Dani Mathers was shredded to pieces on social media after she fat-shamed a naked woman by posting a photo of the unsuspecting woman at the gym.
The 29-year-old model shared the image on social media along with a photo of herself looking shocked with the caption: ‘If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either!’
Her insensitive actions sparked a major outrage among her fans and on social media, causing Mathers to quickly delete the image and apologise for her actions.
However, fans were not moved by her apology and proceeded to bash her further for apologising only because she was being dragged for filth. This caused Mathers to delete her private Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Now new reports confirm that the model has lost her long-running job with radio station KLOS-FM on the Heidi and Frankshow and has also been banned for life from the gym where she took the photo. L.A Fitness also stated that Dani may be facing criminal charges for her actions, adding that they have notified the police who are currently handling the matter internally.
This brings to mind when Nollywood actress Uche Jombo opened up on how she was always hurt anytime she sees body-shaming comments on her Instagram posts. She wrote an open letter addressing this.
So should body-shaming be labelled as a crime?
See what people think on Twitter.
Maybe if body shaming was a crime, the world will be a better place.
What do you think?
